Where is the CS Institute?
The CS Institute is a self-paced, online companion to the Creating Equitable Computer Sciences workshop created by and for the Charlottesville CS Community Research-Practice Partnership.
Who should join?
The CS Institute is open to anyone who wants to learn more about computer science and how to bring it into their K-8 spaces of teaching and learning - whether formal or informal.

What can you expect?
You will explore CS pedagogy and equitable teaching strategies through a series of guided Learn, Do, Connect, and Reflect activities during the week. There will be opportunities to connect with other participants and veteran CS educators. You will leave the CS Institute with at least one CS-infused lesson customized to use in your classroom! You can also earn PD credit from the University of Virginia.
What is the schedule
The 2022 CS Institute launched on July 25. It includes 4 Modules with Learn, Do, Connect, and Reflect activities. The 2022 CS Institute resources will remain available for at least one year.
Will I receive a PD certificate?
Yes, you can receive PD credit from the University of Virginia School of Education if you complete the pre- and post-surveys and share your CS-infused lessons by August 31, 2022. You can also choose to be part of the ongoing CS Cohort and receive additional Educational Project points for re-licensure from UVA.
Is there a code of conduct?
Yes. We are dedicated to providing a respectful, harassment-free community for everyone. We will not tolerate harassment or bullying of any participant in any form. We expect participants to abide by the Anti-Harassment Policy identified in the Charlottesville Meetup/Group Code of Conduct.
